FINDING ONE
There was a spatial vocabulary reinforcement gap in the existing NCERT middle school curriculum
I identified, analysed and sorted upto 400 spatial words from NCERT textbooks of Maths, Science and EVS subjects and built a repository.
FINDING TWO
Digital search engines represent algorithmic bias of abstract, textbook diagrams, 2D line graphs, and geometric sketches as explainatory visuals
While talking to the teachers I found that their go to resource to learn a new word is google images in class and surfing through them to explain a term/concept, meaning and further discussions.
FINDING THREE
Pre Test Evaluation of 40 students from 10th standard revealed their complete unfamiliarity with spatial words and inadequate reasoning for problem solving.
The test paper designed in a complete non stem-centric way to check their visual recognition, word recall, sentence construction (Active recall) and image labelling by contextual mapping.
